Ryan Huiszoon wins competition and award on Bioscience Day
Ryan Huiszoon won the Inventor Pitch Competition and the Audience Choice award at the University of Maryland Bioscience Day. His pitch was called "SmartCath: Urinary Catheter Infection Monitoring and Inhibition" and utilized a flexible impedance sensor to identify and prevent catheter-associated biofilm-based urinary tract infections.
The biofilm project research progress was featured on phys.org and in an ISR news story. It covered the range of microsystems and experiments developed to combat the challenges associated with bacterial biofilms, culminating with the flexible biofilm sensor.
